does cream in my coffee break a fast?

Heavy whipping cream is nearly entirely fat, which doesn’t spike insulin and has minimal effect on autophagy, so I suppose one could say it doesn’t break a fast.

If you drink 1 or 2 cups of coffee a day, and can limit to a tsp, it’s probably not much of an issue.

However, when I began ELAB, I realized I was going through a quart a week, which comes to 3000 calories. That’s almost a pound of fat I wasn’t losing just over coffee!

I cannot do black and definitely need my coffee, and significantly more than 1 or 2 cups/day. 😜

I tried Nutpods on Sara Carter’s recommendation, but didn’t like it. Then I started using MCT oil powder, which runs more in the vicinity of 25 calories per teaspoon.

It’s still calories that have to be burnt before the ones on my belly or butt, but much fewer than with HWC.

Not nearly as yummy, but it works for me.

If you just need flavor to cut the bitterness, a bit of cinnamon put in the basket before brewing is nice, or a few drops of vanilla extract after brewing.

Sometimes, I’m a bit more extravagant in my eating window – adding a spoon of cocoa and/or scoop of PB powder.
